After Image First Year Brighton University Sculpture Exhibition
After Image is the first exhibition bringing together Brighton’s first year sculptors. It is the first major intervention in the newly renovated Artista venue in Hove. The takeover will embrace its transformation into a gallery, events and performance space.
Due to a range of diverse practices, the exhibition will display the artists’ ongoing development of ideas on interaction, function and aesthetics; perception, narrative and ownership; destruction, transience and the ephemeral.
Including a range of multi-disciplinary practices, we will go beyond Artista’s original use as a photography studio to include installation, performance, sound and video. We hope to expand on the language of images, going beyond the visual to leave a lasting impression on art professionals and public alike. We expect to further the dialogue beyond sculpture; from shock to the sublime, private to public, gallery to the everyday.
Private View 18.00-10pm on Monday 9th
Exhibition is open to the public Tuesday 10th- Sunday the 14th from 10am- 5pm everyday.
